Bendtner – 14 days and counting, a title challenge, Zaha and Denilson

Good morning folks, today is Thursday, or as I like to call it, Friday Eve. However, on this particular Friday eve there isn’t a great amount of Arsenal news floating around. It’s so bad in fact, that the first topic of discussion is the big Dane Nicklas Bendtner, he’s been talking about his future again, saying

Arsenal have agreed with five clubs so now it is up to me to make a choice.

I will make that choice within the next 14 days. They are all good clubs.

He goes on to talk about what will affect his decision and why, but tbh I couldn’t care less where he goes as long as he goes. I’ve heard that it is likely to be German club Borussia Mönchengladbach, which does make sense as he also says in the interview that he wants to play in a team that aren’t quite at the top but just below it, because he’d rather playing time over bench time. As they finished 8th last year, they seem around this category, and he’ll probably see it that he can push them higher up the table.

I gotta say the club are doing fantastic so far, we’ve already got Squillaci, Denilson and Arshavin off the books, it’s looking like Bendtner is set to leave, that leaves Park, Chamakh, Santos and Fabianski to get rid of now. I’m hearing that it’s likely both Chamakh and Santos will leave, however it might prove the club difficult to get Park off the books and I don’t really know if Fabianski will be sold or not. I think we’re buying a new goalkeeper and they won’t sell Szczesny, so it’s likely Lukas will go elsewhere rather than sit as our third choice.

I know people will moan that we’ve not made any signings yet but the window doesn’t open until 1st July anyway, so if the club are focusing on selling our players before then, then it makes sense. If they do so whilst negotiating to bring players in, well we could be seeing quite a different squad by the middle of July.

I’ve said for a while now we’ll be a threat next season, and so far Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Ox and Giroud have all said they want to win the league next year too. This shows the players are ambitious and confident, add a couple of quality players to that and you have a squad capable of doing so. Of course my opinion is biased, but even other managers are saying we’re improving, Fergie said

Arsenal will improve – there’s some indication they’re building a better squad.

And Mourinho said in his interview the other day

Arsenal are coming back.

And look, if you don’t believe the opinion of the three best managers of the last ten years, Fergie, Mourinho and Wenger, then you’re seriously stubborn and/or deluded. We’re back people, everybody knows it, exciting times ahead.

I see yesterday that Zaha was rejected by Arsenal so that’s why he chose Man Utd, the Crystal Palace chairman told the press

I tried to get Arsenal to buy him, but they were not interested.

And that’s that. I’ve long said this to Man Utd fans but they wouldn’t listen as they’re stuck up their own fucking arses, but he didn’t choose them over us, he went there because we didn’t make an offer for him. Our scouts brought back reports, we was looking into him, but we decided not to because we didn’t want another project youth, we want proven talent that can help us win the league next year. The boy is a lifelong Arsenal fan, he would have loved to have joined us, but if there’s no offer what can you do?

Lastly for today, Denilson yesterday thanked the club and Arsene Wenger for the wonderful five years he had here. He’s a nice guy Denilson, isn’t he? He even went a step further and posted this image on his official Twitter account, which I gotta say is quite a nice touch. We’ve lost a lot of players in the past few years but how many have done that? He hasn’t even been at the club for two years as well, fair play to him, I wish him all the best for the future.

That’s all for today, thanks for reading, hope you have a great day.
